Medical Network One, a Rochester, Michigan-based physician services organization and health management service provider offering wellness programs and comprehensive disease management prevention and support for individuals living with chronic conditions, announces that its Chief Medical Officer, Al Juocys, D.O., has received the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM) 2010 Dean's Award for Meritorious Contribution.
A graduate of Michigan State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Juocys has continually worked to benefit primary care and the osteopathic profession through many service and leadership roles. The Meritorious Contribution award specifically honored Dr. Juocys as "an exemplar in the enhancement of primary care." He is a past president of the Oakland County Osteopathic Association and held the position of Chair at the Department of Family Medicine at Crittenton Hospital, where he remains an active member of the staff. Dr. Juocys is a member of the Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA) and a Board Member of the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians (MAOFP), which named him "Family Physician of the Year" in 2006; he is also a Board Member of the Michigan Osteopathic College Foundation and the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians. A co-founder of Medical Network One, Dr. Juocys' accomplishments also include establishing the organization's proprietary Community Care Travel Team in 2006 and his leadership efforts in promoting the Patient-Centered Medical Home.
In addition to his service within the medical profession, Dr. Juocys is a recently retired, decorated State Surgeon of the Army National Guard, where he held the rank of Colonel and served two tours of duty in Iraq in 2004 and 2006. He also participated in relief efforts to provide medical assistance to the victims of Hurricane Katrina at Fort Custer. At the Officer Retirement Ceremony for the Michigan Army National Guard, held in January 2010, Dr. Juocys was cited for his 38 years of military service and numerous awards and decorations, including Meritorious Service Medal, Legion of Merit Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and Michigan Overseas Service Ribbon.
Dr. Juocys is also a family physician at Country Creek Family Physicians in Rochester, Michigan, where he implements the most current, patient-focused approaches to primary care via the patient centered medical home. He is a Rochester resident.
