Attorney Nicole E. Wilinski recently joined Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest's oldest and largest law firms, as a member of its Insurance Law Practice Group.

"Nicole's background and experience in insurance coverage litigation compliment the firm's growing insurance law practice, and she will be a tremendous asset to our clients," said Robert G. Kamenec, Plunkett Cooney's Insurance/Professional Liability Department Leader.

Wilinski, who is a member of the firm's Bloomfield Hills office, represents insurance providers in coverage litigation throughout Michigan and the Midwest. Her experience includes the defense of complex insurance coverage disputes in the areas of environmental and construction law. Wilinski also defends clients involved in construction, commercial and personal injury litigation.

Admitted to practice in Michigan and the federal courts in Michigan and Ohio, Wilinski is active in a number of professional organizations, including the Oakland County Bar Association (Diversity Committee), the State Bar of Michigan (Litigation and Insurance and Indemnity Law Sections) and the American Bar Association (former vice chair of the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section's - Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee). Wilinski serves as President of the Women's Bar Association-Oakland County Region of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, and she is a member of the Defense Research Institute.

Wilinski received her law degree, cum laude, from Wayne State University Law School in 2000. While attending law school, she participated in moot court and the Student Trial Advocacy Program where she placed second in the fall 1998 competition. She also clerked for the U.S. Attorney's office in Detroit and interned for the Midland County Prosecutor's Office. Wilinski received her undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Michigan in 1997.

Plunkett Cooney is recognized as one of the nation's leading law firms for insurance coverage litigation. Several members of the firm's Insurance Law Group have been awarded the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. In addition to their litigation expertise, Plunkett Cooney attorneys work with their clients to develop new insurance products and to address emergent theories of legal liability.

Established in 1913, Plunkett Cooney employs more than 150 attorneys in nine Michigan cities, Columbus, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana. The firm, which provides a range of transactional and litigation defense services, has achieved the highest rating (AV) awarded by Martindale-Hubbell, a leading, international directory of law firms.
