Event Description: The ACLU of Michigan will host award winning screenwriter, producer and director, Dustin Lance Black, during its next Legacy Lecture at 6 p.m. on Wed., March 10, 2010 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit located at 4454 Woodward Ave. The Legacy Lectures are a series of lectures to commemorate the ACLU of Michigan’s 50th anniversary. Black is a multi-talented writer, producer and director who won the 2008 Academy Award and Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay for Milk, the Gus Van Sant-directed biopic of the late gay rights activist Harvey Milk. In addition to “Milk,” Black also won acclaim for his work as a writer and producer of the HBO series, “Big Love,” about a modern Mormon family in Utah practicing polygamy.
